Special Issue – Take Off

Read in the fully formatted PDF of the Europlanet Magazine.

In February 2020, when we met in the historic English town of Windsor for the kick-off of the Europlanet 2024 Research Infrastructure (RI), we had little idea of how much would change in the world over the course of the project.
Many of the activities we planned in Windsor were delayed or implemented in a radically different way. However, four-and-a-half years later and despite the pandemic, wars and all the challenges faced by the community on a personal, professional and societal level, we are proud of what we have been able to achieve with Europlanet.

This issue is a compilation of articles about Europlanet 2024 RI activities from the last seven issues of the Europlanet Magazine. The first feature is a summary of the main findings by the project’s impact evaluation officer, whose role has been to assess the effectiveness of the RI for its user community. The articles that follow give more in-depth overviews of the project’s main activities, including Transnational Access visits to laboratories and field sites, upgrades to facilities, Virtual Access services and Networking Activities.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Europlanet 2024 RI, and we invite everyone in the planetary community to join the Europlanet non-profit association and share in our sustainable future.

Anita Heward, Editor.
