Transnational Access (TA)
Europlanet provides FREE access to planetary simulation and analysis facilities.
- Planetary Field Analogues (PFA) to support current and forthcoming missions to Mars, the Moon and the icy moons of Jupiter.
- Distributed Planetary Laboratory Facilities (DPLF) to enable the simulation or characterisation of planetary conditions and materials.
Europlanet’s Transnational Access (TA) programme supports all travel and local accommodation costs for European and international researchers to visit these facilities and field sites.
- You can submit proposals to the TA programme through annual calls.
- The TA programme can support up to two researchers for each visit and covering a time-period ranging from a few days to several weeks.
- While the Europlanet TA programme is designed to primarily support planetary science, applications from other research disciplines will also be considered based on innovation and potential scientific and technological impact.
- Payment of expenses for the TA visit will only be processed after the production of a written report on the visit, as proof that the visit was conducted.
Proposals will be evaluated by a peer review process.
Facilities offered in the next call will be announced in late 2024/early 2025.
For details of facilities offered through the Europlanet 2024 RI project, see the TA1 Planetary Field Analogue and TA2 Distributed Planetary Laboratory Facilities pages. Note that a more limited suite of TA facilities is likely to be offered by Europlanet TA calls from 2024 until at least 2026.
If you would like more information about how to apply successfully for a TA call, see our resources page, which includes presentations from a webinar held in December 2020 with the TA programme coordinators, facility leads and successful applicants.
